Purchased a BOGEN 3047 tripod head.

I had discussed mounting options with Spheron UK and also KU’s photo technician, Bruce Wagman. Bruce has been great, as he is extremely knowledgeable and was able to show me one of the mounts, to verify its suitability.

Bogen 3047

Quite hard to find, as its an old design. Essentially though, I can use this to facilitate mounting system onto stock Mannfroto tripod solutions.

Additionally, this particular design allows the SceneCam cable connector to be inserted / accommodated through the mount (without modification).

I could have attempted a 3D printed mount, but the cost of the Spheron SceneCam system makes that too risky an option – if mount breaks, it could damage the extremely expensive equipment and / or museum exhibits also.

September 30, 2015 Rapid Mount

Manfrotto 625 RC0 Rapid

I also purchased an Manfrotto 625 RC0 Rapid Mount, as this is a more compact version of Bogen 3047 head.

This saves about 5 additional inches on overall height, the downside being I will need to create a custom interface. The interface will allow:

  • SceneCam connector to be fitted to camera
  • Attach system to a tripod – in customizing above head to fit cable, it will destroy the original 3/8 thread for tripod mount
